| Press Release - "The
Hi-Fi Connection" |
I’ve
always enjoyed recording acoustic instruments. Their organic nature
offers some special challenges that their electric counterparts don’t
present. The goal is to capture the true sound of the instruments with
such clarity that you not only hear the instrument, but you feel
the air around it. When that goal is achieved, the listener experiences
a performance - real players, playing real music - like the band is
right there in the room.
Obsessive
by
nature, I always strive to make each recording better than
the last, constantly raising the bar. So I was delighted to learn
recently that the Audiophile community - makers and sellers of Hi-Fi
audio equipment - had embraced several recordings I made with bassist
Brian Bromberg for Artistry Music as “reference
recordings”. Imagine... the watchdogs of sonic excellence had
chosen our records to
demonstrate the superiority of their products.
Most
notable
of these is “Wood”,
recorded in 2000 and re-released in 2003 as a 5.1 Surround DVD. The
original release was awarded “Best
Recording”
by
Japan’s prestigious
Swing Journal, and has since become a regular at Hi-Fi trade
shows,
stereo showrooms, and fanatic websites.

room!”
